Well, even though mortgage rates are rising, house prices aren't getting any cheaper across Canada on average. Saskatoon prices are expected to jump the most up more than 50% for a bungalow there. Homes in Vancouver are still the most expensive for the country by far. Calgary's next, followed by Toronto, just under $400,000.
In Toronto top spots were the blue-chip neighbourhoods of Forest Hill, Chaplin Estates, Deer Park and Cedarvale, where prices increased 16.8 per cent increase compared with the second quarter of 2006. The average detached home in those upscale neighbourhoods is now priced at just above $1 million.
