New! Home Repair Cost Report for 2008 - Handy for Home Buyers in the GTA

Home repairs, Buyers helpful tips on home repairsWhen buying a home I believe in being as prepared as possible, in advance.   Buyers might find this Home Improvement Estimate Cost Sheet handy when doing a Home Inspection on their potential purchase.

Did you know the average Home Inspection reveals an average of 33 deficiencies in a home?  While many of the items may be minor, from common sense maintenance such as removing leaves from eaves, chaulking windows to save on utilities, there may be some big ticket items.

Commonly your Home Inspector should provide you with rough guidelines to life expectancy on the roof and furnace and rough estimates of repairs.

While walking through a home inspection and looking at items such as electrical, plumbing and furnace I like to have a second opinion, which isn't always possible with the typical time period for a "conditional offer on a Home Inspection".     This handy report can assist as a guideline you can review with your home inspector on the spot.

Feel free to download a Carson Dunlop Consulting Engineer's Home Improvement Costs Report for 2008, a report intended as ball park estimates for home repairs and/or improvements for a typical 3 bedroom home.   The costs are based on information obtained in the Southern Ontario area.

It will hopefully provide you with a helpful guideline when working out a budget.
