Staging Trend is Hot in 2014 - Urban Sellers are Willing to Invest More to Increase Value and to Get a Quick Sale

More city sellers are using design companies to increase value and get a quick sale, according to one property specialist.

Home staging companies are enjoying a surge in business of late as more homeowners seek a quick sale, fearing the market may not be as favourable by the end of the year.

While home staging has been offered by real estate agents and dedicated companies for many years, more people are reportedly using the approach to get the best price for their property.

“Home staging has become a trend once again, more so in the GTA than in suburbs,” says Lynn Matthews from Blitz Home Staging & Redesign. “Many sellers who want to target a specific market – such as professionals or young families – undertake this, and most of the properties that we have worked on sell within a very short-time frame and generally over the asking price.”

Real estate professional estimates staging a home can add between six and 15 per cent to the asking price. Home staging can cost an investor any amount from $3,000 to $10,000, with many agents offering this service as part of the overall deal.
